This on‑site role, based daily in Waco, Texas, reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting regulatory reporting, and strengthening internal controls. The ideal candidate is technically strong, analytical, and capable of working independently while collaborating across departments in a fast‑paced banking environment. What You'll Do Accounting & Financial Management Prepare, review, and post journal entries while maintaining assigned general ledger accounts. Complete monthly, quarterly, and year‑end reconciliations and detailed account analyses. Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including preparation of schedules used in financial reporting. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with GAAP and internal policies. Financial Analysis & Reporting Analyze financial results, identify unusual activity or significant variances, and communicate findings and recommendations to management. Prepare and update recurring regulatory reports (including Call Report), management reports, and board‑level reporting materials. Develop ad hoc financial analyses and decision‑support materials for leadership and business partners. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts. Perform variance analyses comparing actual results to budget and forecast. Monitor financial performance trends and highlight risks or opportunities. Compliance, Audit & Internal Controls Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and assisting with implementation of recommendations. Maintain and enhance internal controls through documentation, review of processes, and adherence to policies. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and banking standards. Process Improvement & Systems Support Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and increase efficiency. Research and resolve issues related to core banking systems, workflows, and discrepancies. Support system enhancements, upgrades, and reporting improvements. Collaboration & Support Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment. Maintain accounting procedures and provide cross‑training support as needed. Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required CPA or progress toward CPA preferred 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience Experience with general ledger reconciliations, financial analysis, and month‑end close Experience with financial reporting and regulatory reporting processes Preferred Experience Banking or financial institution experience preferred Experience with Cognos, Microsoft queries, budgeting/reporting software, and core banking systems Experience supporting audits and improving internal controls Required Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls Advanced Microsoft Excel and overall Microsoft Office proficiency Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to research and resolve accounting issues effectively Database and query experience preferred Process improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and accuracy High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information Commitment to long‑term professional growth Why Extraco?
