Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations and property-related financial activities for a Contract assignment in Ogden, Utah. This role partners with finance and real estate leadership to keep records accurate, maintain reconciliations, and help ensure timely reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate is comfortable balancing routine accounting work with administrative support in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records and support period-end accounting activity.
- Reconcile bank accounts each month, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Administer royalty tax withholding payments and complete required quarterly and annual filings with accuracy.
- Review balance sheet activity regularly, analyze account balances, and help ensure financial statements are properly stated.
- Support monthly close procedures by maintaining schedules, updating ledgers, and assisting with account reconciliations.
- Contribute to mineral reserve reporting preparation by organizing financial data and supporting required documentation.
- Apply basic job costing knowledge to track costs, compare activity, and assist with related reconciliations.
- Provide day-to-day support to the Real Estate Manager and Finance Director on property, land, and accounting-related tasks.
- Maintain organized records and databases for property and financial information, helping improve accuracy and audit readiness.
Requirements Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and bank reconciliation processes. Familiarity with royalty statements, withholding payments, and related financial reporting is preferred. Basic understanding of job costing and account reconciliation principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills and working knowledge of Word and Outlook. Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Economics strongly preferred Comfortable staying organized in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
