Job Description

Staff Accountant/Controller Tres Holdings LLC Salt Lake City, UT Job Details Full-time From $60,000 a year 22 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications CPA Process design Consolidated financial statement preparation Policy & process development QuickBooks Online Forecasting QuickBooks Accounting Full Job Description The role in one sentence Own the finance function for a family of real estate companies — brokerage, producing team, property management, rentals, general contracting, fix-and-flip, and marketing — across multile states and growing. Who we are Omada Real Estate is a growing brokerage platform. Around it sits a group of related companies: a top-producing real estate team, a property management company, a rental portfolio, a general contracting company, and a marketing company. We are opening a into other states and we will keep adding entities. We have grown past what part-time bookkeeping and a CPA at tax time can support. This is the first dedicated finance leadership hire in the company. You will not inherit a machine. You will build one, and then you will run it. What you will own The books, across every entity. Full-cycle accounting for multiple related companies, each standing on its own — separate books, separate accounts, no commingling. A fixed monthly close calendar. Entity-level P&Ls plus a consolidated view of the whole operation. Inter company transactions structured, documented, and recorded correctly. Several of our companies do business with each other; keeping those relationships clean and defensible is a core part of this job. A standardized chart of accounts across the group, and a repeatable playbook for standing up the books when we add the next entity. Client funds and commissions. Prepare and book commission disbursements against the back office and our payment processor. The Principal Broker releases funds; you prepare and record them. These duties stay separated by design. Prepare the monthly reconciliation of the brokerage earnest money trust account — bank activity, back-office ledger, and transaction records tied three ways — for the Principal Broker's review and signature. Same standard for property management owner funds and tenant deposits, and for the Texas trust account once that brokerage is live. Project and property accounting. Design and run job costing for our construction and renovation work — cost codes, WIP, correct capitalization, subcontractor compliance and 1099s. Per-property rental performance, owner statements, CapEx, and year-end reporting. Planning and analysis. Annual budgets by entity and a rolling cash forecast the owners can make decisions from.
Source tracking:
tying revenue and marketing spend back to the campaign and lead source that produced it. Scenario modeling as we add locations, entities, and service lines. Tax, compliance, and outside partners. Own the relationship with our outside CPA. Year-round tax planning, not a March scramble. Multi-state setup and ongoing filings as we expand — registration, franchise tax, payroll nexus, and state-specific brokerage requirements. Deliver year-end packages clean enough that our CPA's work takes days, not weeks. Your first year. Standardize the chart of accounts. Write the inter company policy. Build the job costing structure. Get every entity closing on the same calendar. Deliver the first real consolidated view of the business. Then build the forecast. What we need from you Required 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controller, assistant controller, accounting manager, or senior-level ownership of a close. Multi-entity experience. You have kept related companies genuinely separate and consolidated them for the owners. Strong QuickBooks Online, including class and location tracking. Strong Excel — you can reconcile large exports and build a model. You have built process where none existed, not just operated someone else's. Judgment. You know which discrepancies are noise and which ones are a problem, and you say so early. Absolute integrity. This role touches client funds. Finalists complete a background and credit check and must be bondable. Strongly preferred Accounting degree preferred. CPA is welcome but not required — we care more about what you have run than what you have passed. Construction or real estate development accounting — job costing, WIP, percentage of completion, subcontractor compliance. Brokerage, title, or escrow background, especially trust or escrow account experience under state regulatory rules. Property management accounting — owner funds, owner statements, PM software (Rentvine, AppFolio, Buildium). Multi-state accounting and compliance. This is not the right seat if You want a large team and a clean set of inherited systems. There is no team yet, and the systems are what you are here to build. You want to move toward CFO strategy work and away from the books. For the next 18 months you will be hands-on, closing entities yourself. You need consensus to act. You will get context and priorities, not supervision. You are uncomfortable telling an owner that a number is wrong. Why this job is worth having You will run finance for multiple companies across brokerage, construction, property management, and investment — with direct access to the owner and real authority over how it gets built. Most controller seats at this level mean maintaining someone else's system inside one business. This one means designing the system for a group of businesses that is still being assembled. If we do this right, you are the person who built the financial infrastructure of a platform.
