JOB SUMMARY
Not every great accountant wants to stop working — they just want to stop grinding. AltaLabs is a Utah-based family office managing a portfolio of operating companies and investment funds. We are a small, grounded team that values expertise, precision, and calm professionalism. We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who is not necessarily looking for a full-time career move — but who genuinely enjoys the work and wants a purposeful, flexible role that makes use of everything they have built over their career. If you find yourself with more free time than you expected and a desire to stay intellectually engaged in meaningful work — without the pace, politics, or pressure of a corporate environment — this may be exactly the right fit.WHAT THIS ROLE IS A

We are not screening for years on a resume. We are looking for someone with genuine depth — the kind of financial instinct and professional judgment that only comes from having done this work at a high level. Ideally you have held a controller, senior accountant, or similar leadership role and understand what it means to own a financial operation. Solid background in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations — controller experience is a strong plus Familiarity with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software Comfortable with spreadsheets and organized financial data Strong attention to detail and personal accountability for accuracy Clear, professional written communication CPA background or licensure is welcomed but not required Ability to work independently and manage recurring tasks without hand-holdingWHO THRIVES HERE
This role tends to be the right fit for someone who: Has had a full and accomplished career and is looking for purposeful work on their own terms Misses the intellectual engagement of financial work but not the stress that came with it Wants to contribute meaningfully without having to prove themselves all over again Values a calm, respectful workplace with a small team and clear expectations Is not motivated primarily by advancement or compensation — but by doing good work Wants flexibility and stability in equal measurePay:
