Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Brambleton, Virginia. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys analyzing financial data, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting business operations through sound financial practices.
The successful candidate will have Work-n-Progress Tracking experience and play a key role in financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, budgeting support, and job costing analysis. This position offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of businesses while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure accuracy in financial records, reconciliations, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors and resolve issues promptly.
Perform budgeting support tasks, including variance analysis and financial data analysis using Excel data tools.
Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining high standards of accuracy in all accounting functions.
Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
Utilize your analytical skills to examine financial data, identify patterns, and generate meaningful reports that guide our business strategies.
Contribute monthly to the close of the financials on a wide array of companies in different industry sectors belonging to the diverse portfolio of Soave Enterprises.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals by fostering effective communication and creating effective strategies
Embrace the latest accounting software and technologies, continuously expanding your skills and adapting to industry advancements.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions, revenue recognition.
Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
Utilize your analytical skills to examine financial data, identify patterns, and generate meaningful reports that guide our business strategies.
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheets, profit, and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
Supports process improvements related to accounting systems and workflows to enhance efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Job costing experience is required.
Bachelor's degree in accounting.
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Candidates must have experience tracking, analyzing, and reporting project costs, budgets, and variances. Experience supporting project-based or construction-related accounting environments is highly preferred.
