Job Description:
ProspectBlue is partnering with a well-established and growing organization in Ashburn, VA to identify a Staff Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with 2+ years of experience who is looking to build a stronger foundation in corporate accounting while gaining exposure to billing, reconciliations, accounts payable, month-end close, reporting, and technology-driven process improvements. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and finance team to maintain accurate financial records, resolve accounting questions, support timely financial reporting, and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Prepare customer billing and complete monthly billing reconciliations
  • Process accounts payable paperwork, deposits, and related accounting documentation
  • Prepare schedules, sales reports, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Research discrepancies, resolve issues, and communicate with internal teams, customers, and vendors
  • Support process improvements, automation opportunities, and other accounting and finance projects
  • Utilize technology, automation, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions to improve accuracy and efficiency
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes
  • Experience with billing, accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, and/or reporting
  • Strong Excel skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize work, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with an accounting emphasis, or related field preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis, preferred
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or a similar ERP/accounting system preferred
  • Interest in technology, automation, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions is a plus
