Full Job Description Senior Project Accountant Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project billing activity in accordance with contract terms and project requirements. Track project budgets, commitments, and costs while processing vendor and subcontractor invoices and assisting with customer invoicing. Work closely with project leadership and cross-functional teams to monitor project financial performance and support decision-making. Participate in project review meetings and provide financial insights on project status and progress. Develop monthly financial forecasts, estimates, and reporting packages, identifying potential financial risks and opportunities. Perform ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as needed to support business objectives. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior accounting team members.
Senior Project Accounting Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of project accounting, construction accounting, or similar experience. Experience supporting large-scale projects in industries such as construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services is highly preferred. Strong understanding of accounting principles, project costing, budgeting, and revenue recognition. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams and mentor junior staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of resolving complex financial issues. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while adapting to changing business needs.
