Today, we manage and lease approximately 5.4 million square feet of retail space across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions.
Overview:
Hackney Real Estate is currently seeking a highly motivated, customer-focused Property AR Specialist to join our talented team in Richmond, VA! This position works directly with the Controller and Director of Property Accounting and is responsible for managing day-to-day AR functions for various retail properties within our portfolio. As a small growing company, we are looking for a dynamic team player who is reliable, well-organized, and has a keen eye for detail.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform day-to-day accounts receivable activities, including posting, applying, and reconciling tenant payments by checks, ACH, and other deposit methods
  • Manage third-party tenant payment platforms and support ACH setup, processing, and reconciliation
  • Review A/R ledgers and prepaid accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies in coordination with Lease Administration and Property Management
  • Assist with monthly reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, and variance explanations
  • Journal entries, including reclassifications, depreciation and amortization, other accruals.
  • Prepare property financial reporting packages for review and other required financial information.
  • Assist in annual budget process and year-end audit/ tax requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and identify process improvements across workflows
  • Provide general administrative support and maintain confidentiality of financial information
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and maintain regular attendance
Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or minimum 2 years related work experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organized, very flexible, strong follow-through and willingness to learn
  • Great analytical skills and attention to detail Preferred Knowledge / Skills /
Abilities:
  • Experience in real estate a plus
  • Experience in receivables is required
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI or and CheckScan software a plus
  • Adept to technology and comfortable working in a paperless environment
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and initiate actions without being told
