ProspectBlue is partnering with a dynamic manufacturing client in the Richmond area to identify a Senior Cost Accountant with deep expertise in cost accounting. This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing core accounting and finance operations in a standard-cost environment, with direct partnership alongside executive leadership to drive financial clarity, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making. What You'll Own:
Lead all cost accounting functions including standard costing, cost rolls, overhead rate development, and detailed variance analysis Oversee month-end close and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
Drive annual budgeting and forecasting processes, partnering closely with leadership Ensure inventory integrity within the ERP system, including oversight of physical inventories and valuations Strengthen and optimize internal controls, accounting workflows, and system efficiencies Partner with executive leadership to analyze performance, identify trends, and support strategic initiatives Coordinate external audits and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements Oversee payroll accuracy and collaborate with HR on benefits and deductions Evaluate customer credit risk and establish appropriate credit limits Develop and refine KPIs to enhance financial visibility across the organization Review financial terms within contracts to ensure sound fiscal oversight Champion continuous improvement across accounting, ERP, AP, payroll, and inventory processes
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of accounting experience within a standard-cost manufacturing environment Strong working knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance Prior leadership experience managing accounting, payroll, and compliance functions Advanced analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Ability to prioritize effectively and lead in a fast-paced environment This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Senior Cost Accountant who enjoys balancing strategic partnership with operational execution and wants to make a measurable impact within a growing manufacturing organization.
