About the Role Ryan & Wetmore, PC is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant who is ready to take on greater responsibility and grow into a management track. In this role, you will work directly with partners and supervisors on complex tax, audit, and consulting engagements, advise clients on corporate and federal tax matters, and support strategic business decisions. You will also review financial statements, lead portions of audit procedures, and mentor junior team members. The ideal candidate has 3-9 years of public accounting experience, is a CPA or CPA-eligible, and thrives in a collaborative, client-facing environment. Key Responsibilities Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures, including auditing client-prepared trial balances, financial statements, and workpapers Prepare, review, and proof financial statements, audit reports, and related documentation Develop and analyze accrual-basis financial reports Prepare federal and state individual and business tax returns, including supporting workpapers Conduct tax planning and research to support client engagements Maintain an understanding of current tax regulations and accounting pronouncements Communicate directly with clients and build strong working relationships Assist in supervising and mentoring junior team members Qualifications 3-9 years of recent public accounting experience Active CPA preferred; CPA candidate (150 credits to sit for the CPA exam) required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Exceptional writing and communication skills Strong accounting, analytical, technical, organizational, and multitasking abilities Ability to manage multiple engagements and effectively delegate work Prior supervisory experience preferred Ability to travel locally within DC, Maryland, and Virginia as needed Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Experience with tax research databases (e.g., GoFileRoom) and tax software such as Thomson Reuters or comparable systems Benefits Health, dental, and life insurance Prescription drug plan 401(k) plan Dependent care plan 10 paid holidays annually Paid Time Off (PTO): 16 days for 0-5 years of service 21 days for 5+ years of service In-house training programs External training through AICPA, MACPA, VSCPA, and GWSCPA Summer Fridays off program Paid professional memberships and licenses Discounted CPA exam study materials Paid time off to take the CPA exam Bonus upon passing the CPA exam
