Share this WhatsApp LinkedIn Facebook X Share Accounts Receivable/Assistant Accountant Educational Support Staff Closing date: 14/09/2026 Ongoing | Full Time About the School St Michael's Grammar School, a leading independent co-educational school in St Kilda, is seeking a Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable/Assistant Accountant) to join our Finance Team in a full-time, ongoing capacity. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide accurate, timely and high-quality financial and accounting support while building positive relationships across the School community. The role is responsible for assisting with month-end accounting processes, reconciliations, audit preparation and financial reporting, while managing the accounts receivable function, including tuition fee billing, debtor management and stakeholder enquiries. This opportunity is ideal for a recent accounting or finance graduate seeking to build a career in accounting and financial administration, or for an experienced professional looking to develop practical experience across a broad range of finance activities within a collaborative and supportive team. The Role You will be responsible for assisting the team in aspects of the finance function, including: Tuition fee and debtor management. Customer invoicing and statements. Follow up on overdue accounts and outstanding payments. Liaise with parents regarding account enquiries and payment matters. Process periodic instalment payments and maintain accurate payment records. Prepare reports on collection activities and monitor the effectiveness of debt collection processes. Process monthly tuition fee instalments and any additional student-related charges. General Ledger reconciliations. Journal entries. Month end processing. Bank reconciliations. Audit preparation support. Support the Finance team as and when required. Essential Qualifications & Requirements Accounting Certificate or Degree is preferred. Background in the education sector is desirable. Knowledge of PayWay and Synergetic systems are preferred but not essential. Must hold a current Employee Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain. National Police History Check (Obtained within the last six months).
