Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This role will oversee the organization's daily financial activities, encompassing the recording and examination of financial transactions, reconciliation of accounts, management of accounts payable and receivable, and cash flow management. Additionally, the accountant may play a role in conducting various financial analyses as requested.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately. Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Supervise the accounts payable and receivable functions. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Create and manage vendor accounts and information in the Y's operations and accounting systems. Process billing for grants, donors, and others as required.
Daily Financial Operations and Cash Management:
Oversees processing of all incoming checks, including payments for early education, membership, corporate billing, summer and vacation camps, rental groups, donations, and others to ensure receipts are posted and deposited daily. Reviews vendor statements and processes invoices for payment.
Audit and Compliance:
Coordinate and support the annual audit process, including compiling and preparing reports as required. Ensure proper levels of approval to ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures.
Other:

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) year degree in accounting or related field. At least three (3) years of experience in an accounting role. Proficient in Microsoft Office; must be facile in excel. Demonstrated ability to navigate accounting technology and reporting systems. Strong attention to detail with ability to work independently and audit work efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
More than three (3) years of experience in an accounting role. Specific experience in performing accounting work for a not-for-profit organization. Experience as the lead accountant for an organization of similar size and complexity.
