Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).

Job Description The Senior Accountant at Fairbank Construction must share a commitment and desire to providing a high level of client service and to be a contributing part of the entire organization. The Senior Accountant performs general ledger management, period-end closes and complex compliance tasks. This position deals with a diverse group of important external clients and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Cross trained in most accounting procedures and provides backup for accounting system administration. Reports to Accounting Manager Responsibilities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual). Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. Manage company line of credit and related reporting requirements. Assist with additional funding or loan efforts as needed. Prepare financial reporting as needed including cash flow statements, P&Ls and Balance Sheet Cross trained to backup on the monthly billing. Implement accounting and administrative process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Work directly with external CPA during the annual review process. Interface with the company's legal counsel to provide detailed financial information as required. Participate in special projects as requested by senior leadership or owners. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and government regulations. Provide backup for biweekly payroll and HR functions as needed. Maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Compile and file all applicable annual, quarterly, and monthly taxes. Mentor and train employees on accounting procedures and systems. Review ledger and subledger accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences. Serve as the backup 401(k) plan administrator, ensuring compliance and employee support. Backup for accounting system administration Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Several years of general ledger or audit experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Advanced Excel proficiency Clear communication and the ability to explain financial information Leadership readiness and the ability to mentor others Personal Attributes A desire and proven ability to provide outstanding client service.
