Indirect The following are tasks to be performed by the Staff Accountant. The duties are not limited to this list. Any additional requirements, changes, or deletions will be at the discretion of the Controller. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility and duty satisfactorily.
Summary :
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller with the following: maintaining accurate financial records; processing transactions; reconciling accounts to ensure financial integrity; preparing financial statements, tax filings, and audits; managing accounts receivable; supporting payroll functions; performing journal entries; promoting teamwork through behavior; acting in accordance with Altek's policies; and adhering to goals and expectations as defined by management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledgers, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, while ensuring timely collections to optimize cash flow Assists with the accurate processing and recording of financial transactions, ensuring completeness and precision Assists with the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and reports for government agencies and Altek's offsite accounting firm Assists with reconciling bank statements and various financial accounts to ensure alignment with company records Assists with the efficient processing of invoices, payments, and managing the payroll cycle, including system maintenance, employee records, quarterly reporting, garnishments, and COBRA compliance Assists with time reporting and subsystem management for all departments using ATM systems Assists with overseeing and reconciling inventory accounts within the MRP system Assists with ensuring compliance with accounting and tax laws, adhering to accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and applicable regulations Assists with internal and external audits, ensuring thorough and accurate processes Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Altek's ERP system, Job Costing Policy Contributes to team efforts by completing related tasks as needed Participates in team meetings, company-wide trainings, and continuous improvement initiatives Creates an environment of mutual trust and respect with co-workers and inter-departmental leads Embraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customers Embraces Altek's vision, core values, and expected behaviors
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field required In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) 3 years experience in accounting or bookkeeping preferred Proficient in accounting software and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel) Strong understanding of financial statements and reporting, with a proven ability to reconcile financial accounts Familiarity with tax regulations and filing requirements Excellent communication skills (mathematical, written, reading, and verbal) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing environments Self-motivated with strong organizational skills Ability to manage workload independently and collaboratively
