The Accounting Intern will support assigned engagements under supervision, complete foundational accounting tasks, maintain well-documented workpapers, and contribute to clear, effective client deliverables. As an Accounting Intern, You Can Expect To
- Assist with preparing trial balances and account reconciliations using client source data.
- Support the preparation of basic financial statements and tax returns under supervision.
- Perform assigned engagement procedures and conduct simple research into tax or accounting and auditing questions.
- Apply a foundational understanding of accounting principles, including cash versus accrual accounting, debits and credits, and equity rollforwards.
- Record time daily, manage assigned tasks within budgeted time, and consistently meet established deadlines.
- Follow instructions carefully, work independently when appropriate, and seek clarification early when expectations are not fully understood.
- Maintain organized, complete, and well-documented workpapers prepared with care before review.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and, when appropriate, clients.
- Provide timely status updates, especially when questions, obstacles, or delays arise.
- Participate actively in firm training, learning opportunities, and team assignments.
- Apply feedback to improve accuracy, efficiency, and overall work quality.
