Job Description

Known for its welcoming atmosphere and dedication to serving local residents, the dealership prides itself on doing business with integrity and care. Job Overview Timber Ford of Hayward
  • Timber Marine Services
  • Hayward, Wisconsin
  • Full time, on site Build your accounting career.
Learn from experienced leadership. Grow with two established, family-owned businesses. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn, contribute, and grow . This is an opportunity to become an important part of the accounting team supporting two established, family-owned businesses: Timber Ford of Hayward and Timber Marine Services. You will learn the business from the ground up, develop a strong foundation in dealership and business accounting, and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills and confidence grow. If you are someone who likes to understand why things work, takes pride in getting the details right, and wants a career with room to grow, we would love to meet you.
THIS IS MORE THAN AN ACCOUNTING JOB
Timber Ford of Hayward is a Ford dealership. Timber Marine Services sells and services boats and powersports equipment. Both businesses are family owned and operate with a shared business office. You will join an experienced accounting team responsible for the financial transactions, accounting records, reconciliations, reporting, and day-to-day financial operations of both companies. You will report to the VP of Finance and work closely with our Controller, who has nine years of experience leading the accounting office. That means you will have something not every accounting position can offer: the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced accounting leader while building your own expertise. And we are not standing still. We are actively modernizing our accounting operations by developing clear Standard Operating Procedures, strengthening month-end processes and reconciliations, improving documentation, and incorporating modern technology and AI tools where they can make our work more efficient and accurate. You will be joining during an exciting period of growth and improvement, with the opportunity to learn the systems, contribute ideas, and help build the next generation of our accounting processes.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO GROW
We believe the best way to learn accounting is to understand how the business actually works. First, you will learn the business. You will become familiar with daily accounting operations including repair orders, cash and deposits, petty cash, inventory records, accounts payable and receivable, and other financial transactions. You will see how transactions move through the businesses and ultimately become part of the financial statements. Then, you will build your accounting expertise. You will learn month-end close, account reconciliation, inventory reconciliation, lender records, financial review, and the process of researching and resolving differences. As your skills develop, so will your responsibility. You will take ownership of additional accounts and processes, participate more fully in month-end close, and continue developing your understanding of financial reporting and business operations. Over time, there is room to grow into leadership. We want to hire someone who sees this as a career opportunity, not simply the next job. Your path will develop based on your abilities, initiative, interests, and readiness to take on more. There is no artificial timeline. We will invest in your development and be honest with you about where you are and what comes next.
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE?
You might be a natural fit if you: Enjoy working with numbers and details. Like figuring out how things work. Notice when something doesn't look right and want to understand why. Take accuracy seriously. Are comfortable learning new systems and technology. Enjoy finding better or more efficient ways to do things. Are willing to ask questions rather than make assumptions. Take ownership of your work. Want to build a long-term career without having to leave the area. You do not need to know our software or already understand dealership accounting. Accounting coursework, a two-year degree, bookkeeping experience, or experience managing the books for a small business are all welcome, but none are required. Your background might be in accounting, banking, insurance, billing, administration, another dealership, or another detail-oriented business environment. What matters most is your ability to learn, your attention to detail, your curiosity, and your desire to grow.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Training and support. You will have experienced people around you who want you to succeed and will help you learn the business and the accounting processes. Increasing responsibility. As you learn and demonstrate that you are ready, your responsibilities will grow with you. Modernization. We are actively improving our processes, documentation, technology, and use of AI. You will be part of that evolution. A career path. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the companies and eventually move into a leadership position. A place to put down roots. This is an opportunity to build a career in Hayward while becoming an important part of two established local businesses.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
Confidentiality. You will work with payroll and other confidential financial information. We expect professionalism, discretion, and good judgment. Commitment to accuracy. Accounting is detail-oriented work. We expect you to take the time to understand what you are doing and make sure it is right. A willingness to ask questions. If you are unsure, ask. A question asked early can prevent a much larger problem later. We value someone who wants to understand the answer, not someone who simply wants to get through the task. A willingness to learn. You do not have to know everything when you walk through the door. You do need to be willing to learn, accept feedback, and continue developing your skills.
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY?
Because you can build something here. You will learn from experienced leadership, gain hands-on accounting experience, work with two different businesses, participate in modernizing an established operation, and gradually take on responsibility as you grow. We are looking for someone who wants to look back several years from now and see how much they have learned, how much responsibility they have earned, and how much they have contributed. If that sounds like the kind of career opportunity you have been looking for, we want to hear from you.
