Job Description
Part-time Treasurer for the First Presbyterian Church of Marshfield, Wisconsin. Though it is part-time, the position includes paid; holidays, vacation days, sick days, personal days, and other paid days off. Flexible hours, a great working environment, complete with a private office. Manages the financial assets of the Church, ensuring integrity and accuracy in record-keeping, budgeting, purchasing, and regulatory compliance. Key duties include; overseeing bank and investment accounts, processing payroll, purchasing and accounts payable, providing financial reports to leadership, and ensuring secure handling and reporting of donations. Associates degree or 3+ years accounting expereince is a plus.
Major Position Responsibilities:
Maintain all banking and investment accounts of the church under the direction of the Pastor and Finance Committee. Manages accounts payable and issues checks/payments for approved expenses and disbursements. Makes deposits into financial accounts. Manages cash flow. Maintain payroll (including 1099 recipients), benefits plans, and required reporting. Track employee use of vacation days, personal days, sick days, and other excused/unexcused days away from work. Maintain the financial accounting program/software and data including appropriate backup of data and system. Maintain tax forms for local, state, and federal government as required by law. Complete mission reports, remittance, and annual financial report to Presbytery. Record and maintain contribution records. Provide annual contribution statements to contributors. Provide statements as requested by individual contributors. Provide monthly reports to the Session, Finance Committee, and other Committee Chairs. Annual budgeting - get budget request forms to committee chairpersons, and work with the finance committee to prepare the final budget. Provide records for the annual external review, and work with the auditor as requested. Maintain church insurance policies, process claims as needed. Must be readily available to answer question and collaborate with staff and volunteers. Have regular weekly church office hours. Perform all other related activities as directed by Head of Staff or the chairperson(s) of the Stewardship and Finance Committee.Must have:
Strong verbal and visual financial reporting skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to lay-people. Communicate in a professional and courteous manner at all times. The ability to work with staff, Session, and the congregation collaboratively and professionally as a team member. The treasurer must be beyond reproach, ensuring integrity and honesty in all interactions, financial transactions, and reporting. Must have high personal financial integrity.Job Type:
