Shift Fabrication Group Lead Location:

Sturtevant, WI This is a hands‑on leadership role that blends advanced operation of either Brake Press or Laser/Turret equipment with team leadership on 2nd shift. The Group Lead sets the tone for safety, quality, throughput, and accountability—coaching a team of approximately seven while partnering closely with the Shift Supervisor. Success requires someone who can run the work, develop people, and improve the process.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Operations

• Assign work, balance staffing across cells, and align resources to meet daily work order priorities and output goals.
• Coach individual productivity, quality, and work habits; model safe, disciplined, and standard‑driven behaviors.
• Provide first‑response technical support to the team; escalate recurring issues and performance trends to the Supervisor.
• Coordinate onboarding, new‑hire training, and cross‑training to build a multi‑skilled team. Hands‑On Production

Brake Press Focus:

Set up and operate CNC brake press equipment to form metal components to print and quality standards; verify parts to print and perform peer checks.

Laser/Turret Focus:

Set up and operate laser/turret equipment (e.g., EMLK/Apelio); perform nozzle alignment, focus lens cleaning, height calibration, and automated sheet loader setup; verify operator quality and record process verification in ERP.

• Flex as needed to adjacent fabrication operations (inserting, deburring/shakeout, hardware insertion, fabrication assembly, welding) to keep flow moving. Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Audit and enforce quality processes and policies; maintain an organized, 5S‑compliant work area.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and correct at‑risk behaviors in the moment.
• Verify materials and part conformance using drawings and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, pin/height gauges). Throughput & Continuous Improvement
• Manage daily/weekly direct labor hours to hit output requirements; remove bottlenecks and escalate constraints.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives (standard work, changeover reduction, visual management, skills matrices).
• Sustain improvements by documenting standards and coaching to them.

Education & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma/certifications preferred.
• 2+ years in metal fabrication with demonstrated proficiency in either CNC Brake Press or Laser/Turret setup and operation.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings (standard/metric) and apply basic math for dimensions and measurements.
• Experience leading small teams or serving as a go‑to operator (Group Lead, Cell Lead, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, pin and height gauges) and basic ERP transactions.

$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
