$75,000-$100,000 Bonus eligible Full-time; permanent About the Opportunity A family-owned construction company with a long-standing reputation is looking for a Project Accountant to join their growing team. This is an analytical, project-focused accounting position that goes well beyond traditional transactional accounting. The Project Accountant will work closely with Project Managers, the CFO, Assistant Controller, and senior leadership to monitor project financial performance, analyze costs, identify variances, and help ensure projects remain financially on track. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze job costs across active construction projects. Partner closely with Project Managers to review project financial performance and identify potential issues. Track project budgets, expenses, commitments, and profitability. Analyze job cost variances and investigate discrepancies or unexpected trends. Provide financial insight to Project Managers and leadership to help keep projects on budget and on track. Manage and support accounts receivable and accounts payable functions related to projects. Review invoices, payment applications, and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper job allocation. Assist with AIA documentation and construction-related billing processes. Apply knowledge of applicable sales and use tax laws. Prepare financial reports and analysis related to individual projects. Utilize Excel to analyze financial data and identify trends. Maintain accurate job cost records and ensure transactions are properly coded and allocated. Support the Assistant Controller and CFO with additional accounting and financial analysis as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Experience with job costing, project accounting, cost accounting, or another project-based accounting environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial data. Ability to work closely with Project Managers and operational leadership. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of sales and use tax is preferred. Experience with AIA documents or construction accounting is a plus, but construction experience is not required. Must be self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn. Why Join?
