Job Description

Position Summary:
Work with BIA and other state and Federal Grants that have been awarded. Work with the directors to insure budgets and expenses are incompliance.
What You'll Do:
  • Prepare and maintain assigned program journals and ledgers which include but are not limited to disbursement, receipts, general and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Prepare and maintain assigned programs' draws and financial requests.
  • Assist in the development of budgets, grants and contracts. Analyze budget patterns and project expenditures.
  • Oversee the preparation of working papers and approved budgets; ensure that expenditures for budgets, grants and contracts are monitored and that reports are prepared to maintain balanced accounts.
  • Initiate and process journal entries into various accounts. Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolve differences.
  • Oversee budget accounts once award(s) has been granted or contract(s) signed. Provide oversight for the expenditure of funds: ensure that funds are expended according to sponsoring organization's stipulations.
  • Monitor, code and approve expenditures throughout the budgetary period.
  • Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, to assemble, manipulate and /or format data and/or reports.
  • Will be required to prepare the following: deposits, code accounts receivable, disbursement vouchers, wire transfers or data enter information.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and periodic travel
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2-year degree in accounting with 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in governmental, tribal, healthcare, or grant-funded environments
  • Must have working knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles and practices of governmental accounting, auditing, budgeting and analysis of financial statements
  • Working knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft, financial analysis and 10-key fluent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • Experience working in a governmental, tribal, or grant-funded environments
  • Experience with an integrated computerized accounting system, preferably MIP.
  • Experience with fund accounting and multi-funding source environments
  • Knowledge of federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance/2 CFR Part 200)
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle processes and third-party billing
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
