https://www.applitrack.com/wawmsd/onlineapp/ The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District is currently seeking a full time Accountant II to add to their Business Department.
Responsibilities:
Ensures District accounting procedures comply with Federal, State, and Local requirements including the Wisconsin Uniform Code of Financial Accounting (WUFAR), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Oversee and direct payroll to ensure compliance with laws, WRS, and tax obligations. Supervise the payroll specialist and maintain accurate payroll records. Provides internal control over the benefits of active employees and retirees. Maintains the District's General Ledger and Balance Sheet through proper posting of expenditures, revenues, and journal entries. Track and reconcile district asset and liability accounts. Monitors bank balances, reconciles bank statements, coordinates with Accounts Payable/payroll on cash flow to ensure a positive cash balance. Performs the functions of accounts receivable. Reconcile monthly reports from electronic payment system (Square) in order to develop journal entries that accurately reflect payment activity. Ensures DPI compliance measures and reporting. Internal controls according to GASB compliance standards. Maintains and follows internal procedures for auditors; assists with the annual financial audit and monitors internal control compliance. Prepares adjusting journal entries and maintains supporting documentation. Communicates with internal and external stakeholders. Fixed Asset reporting and Implementation of related internal controls. Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
Familiar with Skyward Finance or comparable financial database. Capable user of productivity software - Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and an accomplished user of excel. Clear and constructive communicator, maintains a collaborative mindset, and establishes positive work relationships. Strong work ethic, completes work on time, effective problem solver, self-starter, with excellent organizational skills while managing multiple projects. Meticulous attention to detail and constructive problem solver. Maintains confidentiality. Required to work from the office. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Two to five years of accounting experience. Experience with accounting transactions and processes, skillful with computer systems and accomplished with Excel.
