An Accountant organizes and maintains financial records and prepares financial statements for companies and organizations. Works as a public accountant (prepares financial documents where public disclosure is required by law, such as business balance sheets and tax returns), management accountant (prepares financial information for internal use by a company) or government accountant (maintains records for government agencies).
Summary The Staff Accountant supports the Finance department by performing a wide range of general accounting and financial reporting duties. This role is responsible for daily transactional activities—including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, inventory, and production reporting—as well as assisting with month-end close through the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. Assists with period end close process including journal entries and reconciliations. Assists with annual budget process. Involvement with periodic physical inventory counts. Assists with fixed asset and lease accounting. Performs routine data entry and supporting tasks for accounting staff in the areas of accounts payable, account receivable, billing/invoicing, inventory, production and financial statement preparation. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and stressful situations. Ability to work cooperatively with others. Other duties may be assigned. Physical Demands Regularly sits, stands, walks, and moves throughout office and manufacturing environments. Frequently uses a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally bends, stoops, reaches and lifts up to 20 pounds. Qualification and Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting or actively pursuing a relevant degree At least 2 years of accounting experience. Proficient with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively. Strong team player with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
