Job Description

About Us Artisan is a heavy industrial construction company serving the manufacturing, mining, power generation, chemical, oil & gas, food and beverage and many other industrial markets across the Midwest. We specialize in new construction, renovation, rotational equipment & mechanical installations, structural concrete, rigging, plant shutdowns and facility maintenance for our clients. We're growing fast and need an organized, detail-driven office/accounting administrator to keep our accounting and back-office operations running smoothly as we scale. Position Summary We're looking for an Office / Accounting Administrator with accounting, bookkeeping, or AR/AP experience to support our Cape Girardeau office. This role is central to keeping cash flow, billing, and vendor relationships on track — a critical function for a company managing multiple active job sites and client contracts at once.
This is a fast-moving role:
you'll need to handle a high daily volume of invoices, documents, and requests without things falling through the cracks. Key Responsibilities
  • Process accounts receivable: generate and send client invoices, track payment status, and follow up on aging balances
  • Process accounts payable: enter vendor/subcontractor invoices, verify against POs, prepare for payment, and maintain vendor records
  • Track and reconcile purchase orders against job costs and billing
  • Collect, track, and file subcontractor/vendor lien waivers, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), and other subcontractor compliance documentation
  • Assist project managers and estimators with billing documentation, job-cost paperwork, and other project management support as needed
  • Assist with month-end close activities and reporting for the accounting team/outside CPA
  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for contracts, invoices, and compliance documents
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide general front-office support
  • Order and manage office supplies and equipment
  • Support scheduling, data entry, and other administrative tasks as needed across the team Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, AR/AP, or general office administration — or a recent accounting/business degree with relevant coursework or internship experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Associate's degree in accounting or business highly preferred; Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Experience with accounting/ERP software preferred; familiarity with Trimble Viewpoint Vista a plus, but not required — we're happy to train the right person
  • Strong ability to multitask and shift priorities quickly across a high daily volume of invoices, documents, and requests
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through — this role involves tracking multiple moving pieces (POs, invoices, compliance docs) at once, without letting anything slip
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction/industrial environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion Preferred (not required)
  • Prior experience in construction, industrial services, or a project-based business
  • Familiarity with Trimble Viewpoint Vista or similar construction ERP software Why Join Artisan Artisan has been built on trust — the kind that keeps major industrial clients coming back year after year.
We're not a startup chasing growth for growth's sake; we're an established contractor expanding our service lines and our footprint. Joining us now means getting in on the ground floor of that growth — with real opportunity to build skills, take on more responsibility, and grow your career as the company grows.
