Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position serves as Entry Level Supervisor within the accounting department. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for key accounting functions including bank reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, financial statement preparation, inventory accounting, and oversight of AP and AR activities. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys mentoring others, taking ownership of accounting processes, and developing into a broader leadership role over time. Reporting Structure
- Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Supervises:
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing Personnel Entry Level Supervision- Provide day-to-day supervision and support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing personnel.
- Review work completed by accounting staff for accuracy and completeness.
- Serve as the primary accounting resource for routine operational questions. Accounting & Financial Operations
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
- Perform month-end closing procedures and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for CFO review.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Perform inventory reconciliations and inventory-related accounting activities.
- Conduct cost accounting analysis and investigate inventory and production variances.
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash application activities for accuracy and completeness.
- Review customer invoicing, cash applications, and accounts receivable aging to ensure timely collections and accurate customer account balances.
- Assist with annual audits and provide supporting documentation as requested.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns and other required regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflow efficiency.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Work closely with operations, logistics, transportation, and sales departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support system improvements and accounting-related projects as assigned by the CFO. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, transportation, or textile industries is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to grow into greater leadership responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a desire to grow into increasing management responsibilities.
- Experience leading projects, training staff, or supervising accounting personnel preferred.
- Strong business acumen and ability to partner with operational leaders across the organization.
