An Accounting Supervisor supervises accounting staff, assists with accounting and auditing for a company, and prepares financial reports. Works with other department or operations staff to track expenditures and manage budgets.
The Solomon Organization seeks a reliable, focused, team-player and trustworthy Bookkeeping Manager that will lead a team of bookkeepers to success. The Bookkeeping Manager will report to and work closely with the Controller in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, strong communication skills, solid operation and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, detailed-oriented, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment. The candidate should have expertise in financial statements and preparation. You will be required to work 5 days a week in the corporate office located in Summit NJ, so candidates must live within 30 minutes from headquarters. After successfully completing a defined training period and demonstrated ability to work productively on your own, you will be considered for a hybrid schedule, working a set number of days from the office and from home. Hours are M-F 9am - 5pm. Pay commensurate with experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Team Oversight Supervise, train, and support assigned Finance team members, including workflow oversight, task prioritization, review of work, coaching, accountability, and cross-training. Review all monthly deliverables before delivery to Controller including bank reconciliations, Real Estate tax reporting, capital draws, monthly variance analysis, lender reporting, etc. Ensure timely and accurate deliverables from team in accordance with department calendar. Conduct monthly 1:1s. Banking Monthly bank, security deposits, and lender escrow reconciliation and analysis of accounts and variances Facilitate wires and oversee accounts payable team Coordination with banking websites and accounting software Reporting Ad-hoc investor and lending reporting. Special projects as assigned by Controller/CFO.
JOB REQUIRMENTS
3+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience Minimum of 2 years supervisory and staff review experience of 2+ employees (Preferred) Bachelors or Associates in Accounting (Preferred) Work experience inclusive of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliations, financial schedules, and month-end close (Required) Experience reviewing accounting work for accuracy, completeness, appropriate coding, supporting documentation, and compliance with policies and procedures (Required) Experience reviewing accounting work for Good understanding of GAAP Standards Accounts payable and Accounts receivable experience Personal computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, Experience with computerized accounting software Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Effective oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals
