Job Description

Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Coordinator is responsible for accounting operations including accounts payable, donation entry and credit card management. This position is responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations Manage all aspects of accounts payable, including the grant & Helping Hands check process, 1099 yearly filings, and stale check write offs Manage all aspects of company credit card accounts, including monthly receipt processing, reconciliations and employee reimbursements Maintain adequate inventory of gas and gift cards; reorder cards as needed Assist with monthly billings on reimbursement grants to include federal, state, city and county grants Record Grant AR receipts in the accounting system and manage Grant AR log Manage all aspects to properly account for RTA volunteer mileage reimbursement Process and record donations with accurate entry into Donor Management system and compile deposit packets to ensure adequate backup is maintained Ensure the accurate and timely monthly and year end close Assist with end-of-year review, corrections and adjusting and closing entries Assist with audit preparation Provide financial support for fund-raising events Regularly update and review accounting procedure documentation for responsible areas Additional Duties
  • Participate in ICS staff meetings Other job duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Commitment to ICS's mission and goals and ability to relate and work with a wide range of individuals and community organizations Strong experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for non-profit organizations Excellent computer skills (MIP Fund Accounting or similar accounting programs, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs) Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organization skills and keen attention to detail Ability to multi-task and be flexible Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and have a proven aptitude for accuracy • Strong ethical standards and integrity in handling financial information and assets • Willingness to meet agency standards for attendance and punctuality, positive interactions with others, effective work habits, judgement and ethics as listed in the employee's handbook
Required Qualifications:
Minimum three years progressive experience in accounting/bookkeeping in a non-profit or small business handling a wide range of responsibilities High School Diploma
  • Ability to maintain a valid Arizona driver's license, reliable transportation, clean driving record, and current auto insurance
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must obtain and maintain a Level One fingerprint clearance card
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field
  • Five years progressive experience in accounting/bookkeeping in a non-profit or small business, handling a wide range of responsibilities Reports to:

$38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
