Job Description

ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR
Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid) $90,000 – $110,000 Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to support the accounting leadership team and provide daily oversight within the department. This role will review and mentor the work of staff and senior accountants, ensure accurate financial reporting, and assist with monthly and year-end close activities across multiple entities. The position will also research GAAP and tax-related matters, support nonprofit tax filings, and assist with audit requests and management reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff while ensuring compliance with established procedures and internal controls Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness Support the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries and financial statements for multiple entities Research GAAP guidance, tax regulations, and complex accounting matters Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits and internal management reporting needs Assist with nonprofit tax filings, including Form 990s, and other compliance-related reporting requirements Prepare financial analyses and ad hoc reporting as requested Contribute to continuous process-imvement efforts aimed at increasing efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Experience preparing detailed financial reports and resolving complex accounting challenges Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, along with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills One of the following: • CPA license with 3+ years of corporate accounting experience, or • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of
GAAP Preferred Qualifications:
Active CPA designation At least 1 year of supervisory, lead, or team management experience #
