Overview:
Insight Global is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to support a hospital's accounting team in Alexandria, VA. This is a newly created role reporting into the Accounting Manager, with a strong mix of hands-on accounting and team oversight. This position will oversee month-end close processes, review financials for accuracy, and manage a team of ~7 (direct + shared reports). The ideal candidate comes from a public accounting background, brings strong GAAP knowledge, and has experience leading teams while effectively delegating work. This individual should be intellectually curious, communicative, and able to operate at a high level, ensuring work is completed accurately without needing to execute every task themselves. Experience with Workday and healthcare accounting is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and review month-end close processes, including accruals and financial estimates Supervise and mentor accounting staff (~7 reports), ensuring proper delegation and execution Review financial statements and reporting for accuracy, completeness, and compliance (GAAP) Support accounting functions including fixed assets, cash, treasury, audits, and tax-related activity Partner with leadership on projects, process improvements, and future-state accounting operations Help optimize and enhance Workday functionality and financial reporting capabilities Act as a high-level reviewer vs. individual contributor, ensuring timelines and expectations are met Communicate effectively across teams and leadership to assess accounting impact and drive alignment
Must Haves:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience (4 years public accounting background required) 2+ years of people leadership / supervisory experience CPA required Master's in Accounting or a related field Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting functions (close, reporting, audit, accruals, etc.) Experience reviewing work vs. owning 100% execution (true supervisor mindset) ERP experience (Workday strongly preferred) Strong communication skills and ability to manage up/down and cross-functionally
Preferred:
Healthcare or hospital accounting experience Experience managing larger teams (5-7+ reports) Advanced Excel and financial reporting experience High level of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking Proven ability to prioritize, delegate, and operate in a fast-paced environment
