Bilingual English/Spanish, produce industry experience, Mexican grower experience, grower liquidations experience Key Responsibilities Close, Reporting & Tax Own the monthly and year-end close for Harvest Best Inc. and Harvest Best West LLC, including journal entries, reconciliations, and a clean, on-time financial statement package Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, AR aging, AP aging, and cash flow reporting for ownership Deliver executive dashboards covering revenue, gross margin, working capital, and sales mix Coordinate the annual tax return, sales/use tax, and franchise tax filings with the outside CPA Grower Accounting & Liquidations Own grower liquidation accounting end-to-end: reconcile grower advances, deductions, freight, cooling, packing, and commissions into standardized final liquidations Review original grower reports from Mexican ranches, tie every line to POs, invoices, and pay lists, and stand behind the final liquidation with the grower Coordinate directly with the Guadalajara office on grower forecasts, advances, pay lists, pick-and-packs, and grower returns Support winter-program partner profitability: MXN-to-USD conversion, per-case economics, and grower margin targets Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Manage AR aging: customer billing, cash application, past-due escalation, short-pay demands, and PACA/quality-claim documentation Manage AP aging with priority on 60-90+ day exposure while keeping the current bucket disciplined; approve produce, freight, and cold-storage invoices Own vendor master data, W-9/1099 collection, and annual 1099 filing Run weekly check, ACH, and wire batches with clear approval controls Cash, Controls & Systems Own the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and internal controls over cash, AR, AP, and inventory Manage cash forecasting and working-capital planning across the seasonal cycle Evaluate financing options (lines of credit, factoring, daily-pull) and model total cost before recommending Lead adoption of accounting technology to accelerate close and improve reporting quality Operations Support Partner with operations on cost-per-case, freight, cold-storage, and shrink; flag margin issues early Reconcile daily inventory reports to the ledger; verify corrected invoices before payment Support Mexico entity formation and cross-border accounting readiness Qualifications Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (required) Deep working knowledge of the fresh produce industry (required) Direct experience working with Mexican growers (required) Direct, hands-on experience with grower liquidations (required) Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, not required; equivalent produce/ag accounting experience considered in lieu of a degree 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role Advanced Excel required; experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP required CPA preferred but not required
