Job Description

Provides professional accounting services including account analysis, loan counseling training, and other duties as assigned. Responsible for supervision and reporting of either Accounts Payable and Payroll, Accounts Receivable, or Grants and Plant Accounting as assigned. Responsible for grant and contract reporting, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and university policies and procedures. Oversee processing of payroll, benefits, and related liability accounts, and ensures all related payroll taxes, insurance premiums, and benefits are paid timely. Oversees the processing of payables for payment, travel accounting, and other accounts payable related processes and filings. Oversees reconciliation and analysis of various University accounts. Formulate and administer policies and procedures. Responds to financial account inquires buy University personnel. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 4 Year / Bachelors Degree (Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field). Minimum of three years of progressively higher levels of responsibility in accounting, business administration, financial management, or related experience is required. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, procedures, and practices, preferably in the field of higher education. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Professional appearance and attitude. Strong organization skills. Capable of managing numerous tasks at once Ability to use computerized accounting systems, both mainframe and P.C. applications, functional use of related software, i.e., spreadsheets, and word processors. Ability to work effectively under pressure to create accurate and timely reports. Assist in creating and fostering an atmosphere of professionalism, cooperation, customer service and teamwork. Ability to develop and/or understand new techniques and to apply general principles to deal effectively with specific conditions or problems when they arise. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree CPA or CPA candidate This position is contingent on funding.
