Greater Tampa Bay | On-Site | Local Candidates Only A well-established, high-volume manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to step into a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced and collaborative finance environment. This is a working supervisor position — equal parts team leader and individual contributor — ideal for someone who takes pride in both developing people and rolling up their sleeves to get the work done alongside them. The AP team is a blend of tenured employees and newer team members, creating a rich opportunity to mentor, standardize, and elevate the function from within. The incoming supervisor will have the benefit of a structured knowledge transfer from the outgoing supervisor, ensuring a thoughtful and well-supported transition into the role. Responsibilities:
Supervise and develop a small AP team. Provide coaching, training, and day-to-day guidance on policies and complex items Process invoices independently alongside the team. This is a working supervisor role with active execution responsibilities Define, document, and implement SOPs and AP best practices across the function Oversee invoice matching processes and ensure accuracy and compliance across all payment types Guide team members on GL account coding and review for correctness prior to posting Manage vendor setup, maintenance, and documentation. Ensure full compliance with applicable tax reporting requirements Perform and oversee timely monthly reconciliations of vendor and supplier accounts Maintain and strengthen internal controls with a focus on minimizing risk and preventing fraud Ensure all internal and external inquiries are addressed professionally and within established response timeframes Compile and organize documentation in support of internal and external audit requests Assist with system testing, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives as they arise Escalate critical supplier or system issues to AP management with appropriate urgency and context
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance required, Bachelor's degree highly preferred 7+ years of accounts payable experience in a high-volume environment required Existing AP supervisory or team lead experience required Manufacturing industry experience required General ledger account coding experience required Sales and use tax experience highly preferred Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP best practices Experience with a major ERP platform required Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
