The ideal candidate will share
Our Mission:
Creating a better world by serving people in need. What will I do as an Accounts Payable Supervisor with Lutheran Social Services? Leads daily AP operations, prioritizing work to meet service levels and close timelines. Supervises, trains, and develops AP staff (onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and workload management). Oversees purchase order and invoice processing from intake through posting, including coding, approvals, matching, and exception resolution. Manages payment processing (check runs and/or electronic payments), ensuring appropriate approvals, segregation of duties, and timely, accurate vendor payments. Maintains vendor records and master data (onboarding documentation, W-9 collection, tax classification, and change controls). Manages year-end reporting requirements, including preparation and filing of 1099s. Monitors AP aging and resolves exceptions/discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders. Supports month-end close (reconciliations, accrual support, and audit requests related to AP and cash). Partners with Finance leadership on process improvements, documentation, and AP automation/ERP enhancements. Prepares and shares AP metrics (cycle time, exceptions, aging, discount capture) to drive performance and visibility. Assists with Finance initiatives and special projects as needed. Accounts Payable Supervisor:
Associates degree in accounting, business administration, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, preferred. Three to five years of progressive accounts payable and/or accounting experience. Experience coordinating AP workflows and providing guidance to others; lead or supervisory experience preferred. Working knowledge of AP internal controls and best practices (approvals, matching, segregation of duties). Experience in a high-volume AP environment and/or shared services model. Experience with AP automation tools and continuous improvement (standard work, documentation, metrics). Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
