Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. Job Description The purpose of this position is to provide professional accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for Centralia College. Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. This position works under the guidance of the Director of Finance. Assists the accounting staff in a variety of duties and responds to specific requests from other staff for information. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise Accounts Payable staff including approving time and leave and performing evaluations. Travel Administrator Updating employee travel profiles. Maintain and update approval workflow tables for various approver assignments. Audit all travel and expense reimbursement documents for policy compliance. Verify receipt and proper back-up documentation exists. Assist employees in all departments with creation and submission of travel and expense documents and trouble shoot issues. Reassign approval workflow as needed. Manage travel and expense module accounting by cancelling travel authorizations, closing expenses, reconciling cash advances, etc. Communicate with various departments/employees to ensure approvals are processed by month end close. Monthly communication to payees regarding uncashed checks and escheat uncashed payments as necessary. Perform monthly, quarterly and yearly reconciliations of all AP and AR liability and asset accounts as required by OFM. Monthly monitoring of SMARTER reports with follow-up regarding issues or corrections needed. Prepare and file all required tax documents including Form 941 and Form 990 and Form 1099. Track all unclaimed property and file and perform yearly reporting and remittance of funds to the Department of Revenue.
Monthly Excise tax reporting:
gathering sales and use tax information to file the excise tax report with the Department of Revenue. Remitting and Recording payment. Pull PeopleSoft reports to record payment to the state treasurer for Building and innovation fees. Remit and record payment per given COP payment schedule. Work with Facilities and Maintenance to maintain and update tracking and reporting of leases per GASB 87 requirements. Maintain leases/SBITA in Debt Book as required by OFM. Ensure completion of quarterly cash counts of Centralia College Change funds. Create voucher for Payroll Liabilities to Cash every pay date. Dispatch ACH payments to the bank and add control totals on the bank website daily. Assist Accounts Payable staff in daily processing of payables by following up on issues and ensuring timely processing of approvals and payments. Process year end manual accruals as needed. Make sure all due to/due from state agency accounts agree at year end. Back up for all Accounts Payable functions Attend all training and workshops when needed or required. Perform other related duties as required. Assist Executive Director and Director with preparing financial statements, collecting data, audits, IPEDS, Federal and State disclosures and any other various reporting needs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field AND 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or equivalent education/experience. (Professional experience may substitute for education). One year of lead or supervisory experience, including assigning, reviewing, or evaluating the work of others. Demonstrated experience reconciling financial accounts, researching discrepancies, reviewing financial documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Experience using financial/accounting software and Microsoft Excel to process, analyze, reconcile, and report financial information. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, provide customer service, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a high-volume financial environment. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in finance or related field. Higher education or Washington State/public-sector accounting experience. Experience with PeopleSoft/ctcLink or another ERP financial system. Experience administering travel and expense reimbursement programs. Experience with OFM requirements and Washington State financial reporting. Experience with federal and state tax reporting, unclaimed property, and Washington Department of Revenue reporting. Experience with GASB 87 lease/SBITA accounting and DebtBook or similar lease-management systems. Experience with year-end close, accruals, financial statements, audit preparation, and interagency/due-to/due-from reconciliations. Conditions of Employment This is a twelve (12) month per year, full-time administrative professional exempt position. The salary is $79,000 - 80,200 (DOQ/DOE) annually depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The state of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for state employees. The position may participate in the
TIAA/CREF
retirement system. This position is fully in-person and based on campus. Remote work is not available for this role.

Compensation Annual Salary:
