Auditor Sanford Rose Associates - JFSPartners Ann Arbor, MI Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Internal controls Bachelor's degree Cross-functional communication Full Job Description Internal Auditor A global organization is seeking an Internal Auditor with strong internal controls experience to join its corporate audit team. This role will focus on control testing, process walkthroughs and opportunities to improve audit processes through technology and automation. Candidates coming from public accounting with hands-on internal controls experience are encouraged to apply. Prior SOX experience is helpful but not required. Responsibilities Perform process walkthroughs and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of financial reporting controls. Execute control testing and prepare clear, accurate workpapers documenting findings. Review testing documentation and provide feedback to strengthen audit quality. Work with control owners to clarify requirements, obtain supporting evidence and address control issues. Coordinate with external auditors on documentation requests and follow-up questions. Support SOX compliance activities, control certifications and operational audits. Identify ways to streamline testing and reporting using approved automation and AI tools. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field. Ideally 2-5 years of internal audit, external audit or internal controls experience. Candidates with a relevant master's degree and less experience may also be considered. Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, accounting fundamentals and audit procedures. Hands-on experience with walkthroughs, controls testing and audit documentation. Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with business process owners. Ability to manage deadlines and work with teams across locations and time zones. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, typically around 5%, with up to 25% during peak periods. Preferred CPA or CIA designation, or progress toward certification. SOX experience. Experience with AuditBoard/Optro or a similar audit management platform. Interest in using AI and automation to improve audit processes, including tools such as Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini.
