Job Description
- This position offers a $2,500 signing bonus for eligible candidates

- Review municipal debt requests for statutory compliance and financial soundness
- Evaluate borrowing proposals including bonds, credit lines, and special financing mechanisms
- Analyze audited financial statements, trends, and overall fiscal outlook to assess repayment ability
- Review municipal Deficit Elimination Plans for realism, achievability, and compliance
- Provide guidance to municipalities on best financial practices and sustainable corrective actions

PLEASE NOTE
New Hires for the Auditor classification will receive a one-time signing bonus of $2,500. The bonus will be paid out as $1,250 gross pay adjustment on the employee's first pay warrant and the remaining $1,250 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of satisfactory service. If the employee leaves within one year of the appointment, they will be required to pay back the entire bonus. Education Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting. Experience Auditor 9 No specific type or amount is required. Auditor 10 One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9. Auditor P11 Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.Note:
A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying 'professional experience' is only taken into consideration post-bachelor's degree. Alternate Education and Experience Auditor 9 - P11 Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: finance, economics, information systems, business analytics, data analytics, statistics, quantitative methods, data science, or management may be substituted for the education for agency positions responsible for internal auditing or Office of Auditor General positions responsible for auditing. Possession of a Certified Internal Auditor certification or a Certified Information System Auditor certification may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level for positions responsible for internal auditing. Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level. Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of Auditor experience. Please attach a cover letter, detailed resume, and a copy of yourOFFICIAL

If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position prior to being appointed to the position. To work remotely, the selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required, including, but not limited to, monthly in-person staff meetings.
