JOB DESCRIPTION
The Weatherization Home Energy Auditor is responsible for the initial pre-inspection of qualified homes and for completing auditing and final inspections of the homes of low-income residents for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be an advocate for the Mission and Vision set forth by GHCAA.
  • Complete first and final inspections following State Weatherization, HOME rehabilitation, and BPI rules and regulations.
  • Establish good work orders and list all necessary items needed for the completion of homes.
  • Provide information to community residents concerning weatherization/rehabilitation/construction methods, policies, and procedures of the program.
  • Discuss with clients the results of energy audits and possible measures to be taken to increase energy efficiency.
  • Take and record all blower door readings.
  • Run necessary tests and record information on heating systems and air conditioning system, if applicable.
  • Perform all necessary auditing required for weatherization/rehabilitation/construction work to be done.
  • Inspect completed homes to ensure compliance with program standards.
  • Work with both Energy Department and Weatherization Department to pursue for profit ventures, if applicable.
  • Assist Weatherization Crew Leader, when necessary, in training of Weatherization Crew Members. Active involvement in at least one (1) civic, educational, or service group is preferred. Keep work area clean and neat in appearance. Participate in training activities as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's Degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required and two (2) years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of GHCAA's purpose, goals, mission/vision, policies and procedures, and resources.
  • Ability to organize, assign tasks, and supervise all aspects of housing weatherization/rehabilitation/construction work.
  • Skill in using proficiently all essential tools and equipment in housing weatherization/rehabilitation/construction and the ability to train others in proper and safe tool usage.
  • Ability to become a certified Building Performance Institute (BPI) auditor/inspector and/or any other accredited building program. Successful candidate will be required to sign a non-compete clause if employment ends. Employee will also be required to refund GHCAA the cost of training and licensing, should they leave prior to one (1) year of service, after having been certified with BPI.
  • Knowledge of proper material selection and use in housing weatherization/rehabilitation/construction.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical computations applicable to the housing weatherization/rehabilitation/construction.
  • Ability to explain purpose and goals of the program to homeowners. Present a professional image for CAPNCM and its programs, when dealing with homeowners, individuals, or businesses.
  • Knowledge of construction and materials requirements of all applicable funding sources.
  • Knowledge of Missouri State Weatherization Work Plan.
  • Knowledge of blower door equipment.
  • Knowledge of furnace testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of all auditing necessary to perform the weatherization/rehabilitation/construction work.
  • Possess a valid, current Missouri driver's license and provide proof of insurance.

Starting at $17.29 per hour

TRAVEL REQUIRED
Extensive travel required. SHIFT Full-time position, 36 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 5:00pm. I have read and fully understand the duties and responsibilities described in this job description.
