Job Description Sompo has a unique opportunity for a 2026 Internal Audit Trainee in our Purchase, NY or Morristown, NJ office. Our Trainee Program is an 18-month program beginning in July 2026 designed to equip you with the essential business and technical skills needed to build a successful career in insurance. As an Internal Audit Trainee, you will support the audit team in executing audit engagements. This includes planning audits, conducting fieldwork, assessing controls, and reporting findings. Graduates will gain exposure to various audit functions and develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization's operations. Our Trainees will participate in a dynamic rotational experience designed to build your leadership potential and insurance expertise. This rigorous curriculum also includes training in negotiation, risk analysis and relationship management. Sompo's Trainee Program serves as a launchpad for career advancement, empowering you to acquire the knowledge and skills essential for success in your respective field. What can I expect as an Internal Audit Trainee? On-the-Job Learning Trainees are embedded in audit teams, gaining exposure to real-world audit engagements. Responsibilities include audit planning, fieldwork testing, control assessments, and reporting. Directed Self-Study Trainees pursue the Internal Audit Practitioner designation (IIA). Sompo supports exam fees, study materials, and provides study leave. Professional Development Training in communication, negotiation, self-awareness, and business acumen will be part of the training activities. Participation in industry seminars and conferences is encouraged. Mentorship Each trainee is assigned a mentor from a different team to broaden exposure. Mentors support development through regular 1:1s and performance reviews. What will I need to be an Internal Audit Trainee?
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Additional requirements include:
Bachelor's degree Graduation date between May 2025 and May 2026 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. High ethical standards and integrity. Willingness to travel for audit engagements as needed. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Flexibility and adaptability to changing audit priorities and environments. Strong organizational and time management skills. Local to the desired office location or able to arrange housing and transportation in the area to support an in-office working arrangement while in the Trainee Program Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States without restriction
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $77,500 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
