Job Description

New Jersey, USA- Hybrid mode. Who We Are Resource Smart LLC (RS) is a national Energy Consulting Services firm that provides turn-key services offering attractive ROIs for green rehabilitation of multifamily and commercial properties. Resource Smart was selected by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities as the program implementer for the U.S. Department of Energy's Home Energy Rebates program. Which aims to serve approximately 12,000 multifamily homes over the programs 5-year period. Position Overview Resource Smart is hiring an Energy Auditor to support a new energy efficiency program for its client NJBPU (https://cleanenergy.nj.gov/programs/energy-efficiency/m-rise-program). The Energy Auditor will lead the execution of ASHRAE Level II (Standard 211-2018) energy audits in multifamily buildings while also providing quality control inspections. This role focuses on identifying Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) during the audit and inspecting the ECMs post-installation. The Energy Auditor will complete buildings audits and QCI reports with comprehensive energy-savings scopes of work for: high efficiency HVAC and hot-water systems (mainly heat pumps), LED lighting, and building shell improvements for multifamily apartment buildings. The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of heat pump HVAC systems and NJ utility rebate programs. The Energy Auditor will also be expected to keep up to date on relevant technological innovations and necessary continuing education requirements to maintain auditing and QCI credentials.
Responsibilities Perform ASHRAE Level II Energy Audits :
Lead and support ASHRAE Level II energy audits of multi-family buildings, including detailed surveys of the building envelope, HVAC, lighting, domestic hot water, and plug loads, using equipment such as light meters, infrared cameras, combustion analyzers, and data loggers. Identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) : Develop a comprehensive list of viable ECMs tailored to the facility, occupancy, and client goals, including decarbonization measures (e.g., electrification, heat pumps). Collaborate with Energy Modelers in building energy modeling, for example assisting in the intake of building baseline conditions and in establishing the ECMs.
Submit Energy Audit Results Using DOE's Audit Template Tool :
Populate energy audit results, including facility data and recommended ECMs, into DOE's Audit Template tool to generate Building Sync XML files for rebate reservation.
Generate Technical Reports :
Author client-ready audit reports including executive summaries, ECM write-ups, savings tables, recommendations, and supporting appendices. Provide Technical Assistance to Owners and Installer-Contractors in completing applications for energy conservation measure rebate incentive programs.
Conduct Quality Inspections :
Conduct inspections and file QCI reports for Multifamily clients with Resource Smart Engineering.
Client and Project Coordination :
Coordinate site visit logistics, communicate progress to project managers and clients, and respond to client questions before, during and after the project. Requirements Experience with multi-family buildings is a

bachelor's degree or equivalent 3 years of experience performing ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits for MF or Commercial buildings 3 years of experience performing Quality Inspections for MF or Commercial buildings Experience using audit tools (data loggers, light meters, IR cameras, combustion analyzers) preferred Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) Personal Qualifications Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills Passionate about energy equity Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work independently and within a team environment Enthusiasm to learn and grow as a professional Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
