Full Job Description Description:

Under general direction of the City Auditor, the Deputy Auditor is responsible for the accuracy and correctness of the financial systems and financial reports of the City, the maintenance and monitoring of all the revenues and expenditures of the City, all reporting pertaining to the Auditor's Office and the financial reporting on all levels, which include, but are not limited to County, State and Federal Agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Responsible for all month-end and year-end procedures as required by law; prepares and maintains records of the City's Annual Tax Budget, Certificate of Expected Resources, Amended Certificates of Expected Resources, schedules, and other reports as required; balances all funds, appropriations, purchase orders, receipts, and accounts; prepares 1099 and W-2 reconciliation and reporting; prepares all annual federal, state, and local reporting; prepares all pension reports and reconciliation; keeps City government transparent and accountable ensuring citizens their City of Norwood government is behaving responsibly and using their funds wisely. Monitors the receipts, expenditures, and investments and monitors the appropriations of the City in compliance with laws and regulations; certifies all disbursements and purchase orders for the Auditor before checks or purchase orders are processed. Oversees the cash flow of all City funds including special project accounts; maintains receipts and disbursements of any special checking account or trust accounts such as checking accounts or special projects that are kept separate from City funds. Accepts, reviews, approves, and receives monies for licenses and permits issued by the City Auditor; works with the Deputy Treasurer assuring all accounts are accurately represented to City Council. Monitors and balances all debt service accounts for the City. Attends meetings and serves on committees, as directed; attends training and seminars, as directed. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance; may be required to work extra hours, evening hours, weekends and/or holidays as required; due to the nature of the job, when scheduled for on-call assignment, the employee must be available to return to work after normal work hours or on weekends and/or holidays when called to do so.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Financial Forensics, Business, or related field and two (2) years recent demonstrated work experience in municipal finance, accounting, auditing, taxation, or related fields; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
