The Office of Equity, Audit & Compliance consists of the Equity and Compliance and Internal Audit offices. Both provide independent and objective oversight of Portland State's operations. Position Summary This position is responsible for planning, leading and managing the University's internal audit function, providing general oversight to the Office of Equity and Compliance and the Deputy Chief Executive for Equity & Compliance, and for providing general oversight of university compliance activities and leadership to the university compliance committee. The Chief Executive for Equity, Internal Audit, and Compliance will report administratively to the University President and functionally to a committee of the Portland State University Board of Trustees. The Chief Executive will work in close coordination with the University General Counsel, the Vice President for Finance and Administration, and the Controller. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Professional certification such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Seven years recent professional field audit experience with an internal auditing unit or with a commercial auditing firm in financial or operational auditing Understanding of the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ability to comply with IIA standards Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the ability to lead an internal audit team Ability to effectively communicate in a professional and courteous manner with diverse individuals and groups Proficient use of computer programs to extract and analyze financial and accounting data, document audit work and prepare audit reports Experience managing and designing audit plans and teams Senior level administrative experience Understanding of higher education/governmental accounting transactions and principles Relevant experience in a higher education environment, particularly with a large, public university Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field; Master's degree in accounting, business administration or related field preferred Key Cultural Competencies Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences. Work Days/Hours Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, typically 8am to 5pm Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $169,050 and $192,696, but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
