Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Internal Audit Manager (SOX) to lead our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, testing, and continuous improvement of internal controls across the organization. You will manage a high-performing team, drive SOX 404 compliance efforts, and partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and external auditors to ensure robust financial reporting controls. The ideal candidate would have deep expertise in internal controls testing, strong
U.S. GAAP
knowledge, and proven experience managing SOX programs. This role is critical to maintaining strong governance, risk management, and compliance while supporting the organization's financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities Lead SOX Compliance Program:
Own the end-to-end SOX compliance process, including scoping, risk assessment, control documentation, testing, and remediation of deficiencies.
Team Leadership & Development:
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of internal audit and SOX professionals. Provide technical guidance on control testing methodologies, review workpapers, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Internal Controls Testing:
Oversee the execution of control testing (design and operating effectiveness) across key financial processes. Identify control gaps and drive timely remediation.
Financial Reporting Expertise:
Serve as a trusted advisor on financial reporting matters, ensuring controls align with
U.S. GAAP, SEC
requirements, and PCAOB standards.
Audit Coordination & Reporting:
Act as the primary point of contact with external auditors for SOX-related matters. Prepare status reports, deficiency summaries, and presentations for senior leadership and the Audit Committee.
Process Improvement & Automation:
Continuously evaluate and enhance the SOX program through process improvements, control rationalization, and adoption of technology-enabled auditing tools.
Risk & Controls Oversight:
Support broader internal audit initiatives as needed, including operational audits, special projects, and enterprise risk assessments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred) Around 5-10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, internal audit, or SOX compliance roles Deep, hands-on experience with
SOX 404 / ICFR
compliance, including control testing, walkthroughs, and deficiency evaluation Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, internal control frameworks (COSO), and auditing standards Proven track record managing and developing a team in a SOX or internal audit environment Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues to senior stakeholders Experience in a publicly traded company or large multinational organization Company DescriptionNuHire, LLC is a direct placement recruiting firm dedicated to helping candidates find long term permanent positions, NOT short term contracts.
