Job Summary Hybrid work schedule available, up to 50% telework depending on business needs. Telework can be outside of the state of Minnesota if the candidate lives in a state bordering Minnesota and lives 50 miles or less from the primary work location. The Director of Real Estate and Mortgage Investigative Team (REMIT) in the Enforcement Division of the Department of Commerce provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the team responsible for conducting civil investigations to determine whether any person has violated or is about to violate state laws related to real estate brokers, real estate salespersons, mortgage originators, closers, title companies, appraisers and other related persons. This role ensures that investigations are accurate, fair, timely, and aligned with statutory authority and best practices. The Director will lead investigative staff; plan, organize, and coordinate Investigations; testify at administrative hearings; and establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of real estate and mortgage industry experience in compliance, law, regulatory affairs, or a related area. A bachelor's degree in real estate, business, public administration, law enforcement, political science, pre-law, or a related field can be substituted for one (1) year of experience. An advanced degree in real estate, business, public administration, law enforcement, political science, law, or a related field can be substituted for eighteen (18) months of experience.) Applicants who meet the above experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following: Experience as a supervisor, project manager, and/or lead worker. Experience with investigative methods and analyzing data. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complicated information to a variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience as a civil or criminal investigator, examiner-in-charge, staff examiner, or compliance. A variety of experiences working effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Advanced degree (master's degree or J.D.) Physical Requirements Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
