Job Description
Medical Coding Auditor Location:
Baltimore, MD Pay:
$66,102 - $92,560 annually Work Environment Hybrid position requiring a minimum of 1 day onsite weekly (Wednesday), with occasional additional onsite days for provider meetings, training, and department activities. Candidates must be local and able to travel to provider locations as needed. Schedule

+ Time Off / Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) About the Role The Medical Coding Auditor is responsible for conducting physician coding and compliance audits, evaluating documentation accuracy, and ensuring adherence to CMS, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 guidelines. This role also serves as a key educator for providers, delivering training and feedback to improve coding accuracy, documentation quality, and regulatory compliance across the organization. Key Responsibilities
+ Conduct independent physician coding and auditing reviews.
+ Evaluate medical record documentation supporting selected codes.
+ Perform compliance audits against CMS, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 guidelines.
+ Utilize MDaudit software for audit tracking, reporting, and documentation.
+ Identify coding trends, compliance risks, and opportunities for improvement.
+ Develop and deliver physician coding education and training programs.
+ Present audit findings and compliance recommendations to providers and leadership.
+ Support compliance investigations, reporting, and regulatory inquiries.
+ Monitor coding and billing regulation updates and communicate changes.
+ Assist in developing audit tools, policies, procedures, and education materials. Required Skills & Experience
+ High School Diploma or equivalent. + 5+ years of medical coding experience. + 2+ years of physician auditing or billing compliance experience.
+ Professional Fee (ProFee) coding experience required.
+ Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
+ Strong knowledge of CMS, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and payer documentation requirements.
+ Experience educating providers on coding and documentation practices.
+ Ability to present audit findings and compliance recommendations to physicians.
+ Experience with compliance auditing and regulatory guidelines. Top Skills -

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $66102.00 - $92560.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
