An Auditor examines records to determine the financial status of a company or organization. Inspects accounts and account books, prepares reports on the accuracy of internal financial records and accounting procedures.
TJS Group (TJS) seeks to engage a Financial Auditor who supports NOAA OCAO's Real Property Management Division (RPMD) with financial audit, transaction testing, internal control review, and workpaper preparation activities related to NOAA's real property portfolio including owned as well as leased property PP&E. This position works alongside the Senior Financial Auditor and TJS Project Manager to support recurring audit cycles, financial reporting reconciliations, and asset management data integrity across NOAA's Silver Spring facilities. The work will be performed on site in Silver Spring, MD. The WORK Perform financial audit fieldwork including transaction testing, sampling, and data verification against NOAA real property records. Prepare and maintain audit workpapers documenting purpose, scope, methodology, testing procedures, findings, and conclusions in accordance with GAGAS (Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards) Support internal control reviews of NOAA real property capitalization, depreciation, and disposal transactions Reconcile financial records against Sunflower (SAMS) asset management data and NOAA financial systems Conduct pre-audit sampling and risk analysis to support audit planning Perform fact-finding, evidence collection, and formal documentation to support audit findings and recommendations Draft input for audit reports and management responses; support Senior Financial Auditor on report preparation Support annual, periodic, and cyclical inventories of capitalized assets and Construction Work in Progress (CWIP) Participate in fraud brainstorming sessions and identify areas of compliance concern or program vulnerability Coordinate with NOAA program offices, RPMD personnel, and TJS team members to obtain records, clarify transactions, and resolve audit questions Perform quality control reviews of audit deliverables prior to submission The
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Auditing, or related field 2+ years of financial audit, compliance audit, or accounting experience — federal Government PP&E audit experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) Familiarity with audit workpaper software (TeamMate+, IDEA, or similar) Experience with government financial systems (Sunflower, CFS, or equivalent) preferred
