Job Description

Position Overview The Government Audit Manager will manage day-to-day execution of government audit engagements, ensuring that fieldwork, documentation, and reporting are completed in accordance with professional auditing standards and government regulatory requirements. This role serves as the operational lead for the audit team, responsible for coordinating audit staff, overseeing audit procedures, reviewing workpapers, and ensuring compliance with Government Auditing Standards. Key Responsibilities Audit Planning & Execution Develop detailed audit plans and engagement timelines. Coordinate audit fieldwork across multiple locations or departments. Define audit scope, testing procedures, and sampling methodologies. Team Management Supervise senior auditors and audit staff. Assign audit sections and testing responsibilities. Monitor engagement progress and ensure deadlines are met. Technical Audit Review Review workpapers for completeness and accuracy. Evaluate internal control testing results. Ensure sufficient audit evidence supports findings and conclusions. Compliance Oversight Ensure audit procedures comply with: Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) Single Audit requirements
GAAS GASB
reporting requirements Financial Reporting Assist with preparation of financial statements and related disclosures. Assist with preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA). Review audit adjustments and supporting schedules. Client Coordination Serve as primary point of contact for client finance staff. Coordinate requests for financial documentation and supporting records. Communicate audit findings and recommendations to client leadership. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5-8+ years of auditing experience Demonstrated experience auditing government entities Experience with Single Audits / Uniform Guidance Strong knowledge of GASB standards Preferred Qualifications Active CPA license or CPA candidate Experience auditing: School districts Municipal governments Public sector agencies Experience managing multi-person audit teams Engagement Structure Paid per engagement or hourly

$60,889.52 - $85,372.31 per year
