But what if you actually enjoy audit? You like your clients, you enjoy the work, you'd just quite like a bit more freedom and perhaps a busy season that doesn't take over your entire life. That's where this firm comes in. They're an established, independent CPA firm in the Oak Brook area, and they're growing. Busy season is generally around 50 to 55 hours, there's flexibility with hybrid working, and the Partners are big believers in giving people the autonomy to get on with their jobs. So, what would you actually be doing? The role is predominantly audit, with a good portion of the client base made up of not for profit organisations. Think charities, research organisations and some Single Audits, alongside a broader mix of privately held businesses. You'll be coming in around Senior to Supervisor level, taking ownership of engagements, building relationships with clients and helping the more junior members of the team. And because it's a full service firm, there's also the opportunity to get involved in tax and accounting when schedules allow. Not because they expect you to do three people's jobs, but because some people genuinely enjoy having a bit of variety. One of the things I particularly like about this opportunity is that progression doesn't have to look the same for everyone. If you've got ambitions of becoming a Partner one day, there's a route towards that. But if your idea of success is becoming really good at what you do, earning well and having a life outside of work, that's absolutely fine too. They're not looking for someone who needs constant supervision. They want someone personable, comfortable dealing with clients and ready to be trusted with a little more responsibility. And in return, you'll get annual salary reviews, performance bonuses twice a year, health insurance, 401(k) and your CPA fees covered. There's even the opportunity to build your own book of business, with support from the Partners and commission available if that's something you'd like to explore.
