Job Description

ProDirectional is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to serve as our Internal Auditor and Process Improvement Engineer for Motor and MWD repair & maintenance operations. This is a shop-floor engineering role: you use a mechanical engineering foundation to audit how work is actually performed against controlled procedures, then recommend practical process and method improvements to Quality, Operations, and Engineering. You are not a desk-only auditor and not a full-time product design engineer. You are the engineer who walks the process, understands the mechanical work, proves what is (and isn't) happening with objective evidence, and turns findings into better methods, clearer work instructions, tooling/fixture ideas, and closed corrective actions. What You Will Do Internal Audit Plan and execute a standing internal audit schedule for Motor and MWD R&M Audit to current controlled procedures and work instructions Apply mechanical judgment when reviewing assembly, inspection, repair, and test steps Document findings with notes, photos, travelers/routers, and traceability samples Classify nonconformances, observations, and opportunities for improvement Feed confirmed issues into NCR / CAPA and verify corrective actions on the floor Maintain audit records ready for customer and registrar review Process Improvement (ME lens) Map and evaluate shop processes for gaps, bottlenecks, rework, and unclear steps Recommend process, tooling, fixture, layout, method, or work-instruction changes Use engineering fundamentals to challenge "we've always done it this way" Support Quality Manager with evidence for procedure updates and MOC inputs Partner with Operations and Engineering on feasible, safe improvements Coach teams to standard work — firm and factual, not policing Escalate immediate product/process risk per procedure What Success Looks Like Audits completed on schedule with clear, evidence-based, mechanically sound findings More issues captured in
NCR / MOC / CAPA
— and driven to verified closure Fewer late surprises in external audits and customer quality events Documented process improvements that reduce rework, ambiguity, or escape risk Trusted engineering presence on the floor supporting both Motor and MWD shops Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related mechanical discipline with equivalent ME coursework/experience) 2+ years in manufacturing, oilfield equipment R&M, quality engineering, process engineering, or related shop-floor technical roles Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, travelers, torque/calibration records, and work instructions Strong written documentation — clear findings, photos, and engineering-based recommendations Comfortable working independently on the shop floor; influence without authority; factual under pressure Preferred Qualifications Oilfield downhole tools, drilling motors, MWD, or similar precision R&M experience Internal auditor training (ISO 9001 internal/lead auditor or equivalent);
API Q1/Q2
familiarity a plus Process improvement methods (lean, 5S, PFMEA, standard work, capability/time studies, or similar) Experience supporting NCR, CAPA, and Management of Change (MOC) systems Hands-on exposure to inspection, assembly, testing, or failure analysis in a shop environment How This Role Fits Reports to the Quality Manager. The Quality Manager owns the QMS, procedures, external audits, and company-wide

process discipline. This Mechanical Engineer owns day-to-day verification and continuous improvement input across Motor and MWD. You recommend changes; procedure ownership and final approvals stay with Quality (and Engineering where applicable).
