Const Records Auditor I or II

  • ELP•( 2601132 ) Position Information The El Paso District Construction Office offers a unique opportunity for a Construction Records Auditor I or II to make a real impact on a growing and dynamic construction program.
With oversight of more than 50 active construction projects, the El Paso District plays a vital role in delivering safe, high‑quality transportation infrastructure to the region, including projects administered through the Local Government Program. In this role, the auditor will work closely with Area Offices and local government partners to review and audit construction records, coordinate on monthly and final estimates, change orders, and help ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with state and federal requirements. The position also involves verifying contractor compliance with programs such as EEO, DBE, providing guidance to inspectors and recordkeepers, and supporting project closeout efforts. With hands‑on involvement in complex projects and collaboration with engineers and construction professionals, this role offers the opportunity to directly support accountability, improve processes, and strengthen the integrity of the district's construction program. Position Description Construction Records Auditor I:
Audits construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements and trains others. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Construction Records Auditor II:
Audits and conducts final review of construction project records; verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Construction Records Auditor I or II:
Advises contractors' bookkeepers on record-keeping procedures. Assists with Federal Highway Administration and departmental reviews of construction records and may act as liaison with this agency. Monitors material testing requirements, results and reports for compliance with specifications and standards. Participates in meetings regarding contract administration. Performs and reviews construction records audits and coordinates with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements and work orders. Prepares related correspondence and reports. Verifies contractors' compliance with federal requirements for EEO and the on-the-job training, Disadvantaged Business. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for
Construction Records Auditor II:
Assists area engineers by providing direction and technical expertise in resolving contract administration problems. Performs final review of contracts. Represents the district or Construction Division at meetings regarding contract administration. Trains less experienced recordkeepers and records auditors.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience:

1 Year Record-keeping, bookkeeping, auditing or other related experience. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for
