The Role We're looking for a skilled Production Estimator to join our collision center team, inspecting damaged vehicles, determining repair costs, and working with customers and insurance companies. This is a hands-on role that involves walking the shop floor, examining vehicles up close, and helping ensure quality repairs. The right person has experience with vehicle damage, enjoys working with people, and pays close attention to detail. What You'll Do Inspect Vehicles and Assess Damage Examine damaged vehicles thoroughly for obvious and hidden damage: structural, mechanical, and cosmetic Take detailed photos and notes; use measuring tools and equipment to assess damage accurately Determine which parts should be repaired versus replaced Create Repair Estimates Write detailed estimates covering all necessary repairs, labor times, parts pricing, and materials Ensure estimates are fair and accurate for both customers and insurance companies Work with Customers and Insurance Explain damage, repair processes, and timelines to customers in terms they can understand Work with insurance adjusters on damage and repair costs, and help resolve disagreements about needed repairs Keep customers updated on repair progress and handle concerns with patience and professionalism Manage Paperwork and Documentation Complete insurance claim forms and keep detailed, organized records and photos for every vehicle Update shop systems with repair information accurately and on time Quality Control and Follow-Up Inspect completed repairs before delivery, verifying paint match, panel alignment, and that repairs match the estimate Work with technicians to correct any issues found during final inspection Shop Floor Coordination Communicate with technicians about damage and repair needs; schedule vehicles through each repair stage Coordinate with the parts department and help prioritize work to keep repairs moving efficiently What You Bring At least 3 years of experience as a collision repair estimator, damage appraiser, or in the auto body/insurance industry
Required:
hands-on experience with both CCC and Mitchell estimating systems Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; Audatex experience a plus Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to review estimates and catch missing or overlooked damage Professional communication skills by phone, email, and in person Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards I-CAR Platinum preferred; experience with online platforms such as Bodyshop Booster and CarWise a plus Physical Requirements Walk the shop floor and stand, bend, and crouch to inspect vehicles Work at a computer for extended periods; lift up to 25 lbs Why Join FCG Weekly pay every Friday.
