  • Naperville Must be able to work a flexible schedule (8:00am-5:00 pm) and be available to work Saturdays (9:00am-1:00pm).
Position Summary The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Market Manager in leading branch sales, service, and daily operations. This role is responsible for developing profitable customer relationships across business, commercial, and retail banking segments while ensuring a high standard of service, operational integrity, and team support. The position also represents the Bank in the community and may require participation in after-hours business development events.
Qualifications/Attributes:
Bachelor's degree in a business-related field and at least seven years of experience in the financial industry; or a high school diploma or GED with four years of progressive banking experience and/or training. Strong knowledge of retail banking products, services, and branch operations; retail lending experience preferred. Demonstrated success in sales leadership, business development, staff coaching, and talent development. Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills. Sound judgment with the ability to balance growth objectives, risk awareness, and operational discipline. Strong attention to detail, adaptability to changing policies and procedures, and proficiency with required computer systems and basic math skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop new business and expand existing relationships across retail, consumer, and commercial banking segments, with emphasis on deposits, cash management, and related bank products and services. Meet or exceed established branch sales goals through proactive business development, disciplined sales planning, and consistent prospecting activity. Manage the sales process from initial contact through relationship development, identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate financial solutions. Represent the Bank in the community through networking, local organizations, and after-hours events that support branch growth and market visibility. Support company-wide sales and marketing initiatives while executing local strategies that align with branch and market objectives. Generate branch income through effective sales, cross-selling, and relationship management, while completing required tracking and reporting. Research and resolve complex customer account issues, transaction discrepancies, and service concerns in a timely and professional manner. Authorize transactions, overdrafts, and check approvals within established authority limits, escalating matters appropriately when needed. Complete special projects and assignments with minimal supervision while maintaining regular responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Leadership and Operations:
Support the Market Manager in the oversight of branch staff, daily operations, and adherence to established processes and policies. Act on behalf of the Market Manager in the manager's absence, including supervision of branch personnel and support of day-to-day branch decision-making. Manage teller and universal banker functions, including staffing, scheduling, transaction processing, cash drawer coverage, vault responsibilities, and cash shipment verification. Ensure that dual controls, operating procedures, and internal controls are consistently followed across teller and banker activities. Provide coaching, training, and guidance to branch staff, and support onboarding and development of new retail employees as needed. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in carrying out operational and managerial responsibilities under limited supervision. Make decisions using sound judgment and due diligence to minimize risk exposure to the Bank, escalating approvals beyond authority levels to appropriate senior leaders. Serve as a resource to branch staff and support a positive, solutions-oriented team environment. Open and close the branch as needed and support branch audit readiness and operational accountability.
Compliance:
Maintain a thorough understanding of banking regulations that affect retail banking transactions, as outlined in the Bank's regulatory compliance and audit materials. Complete compliance-related audits, analyses, and special projects as required. Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and control standards, and communicate concerns or improvement opportunities to appropriate leadership. Performance Metrics/Service Expectations Provide proactive, courteous service to customers on the retail floor by greeting, assisting, and directing them to ensure a positive branch experience. Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from current and prospective customers. Address routine questions and service issues effectively, with a focus on timely resolution and customer satisfaction. Reaches out to all customers transacting business on the retail floor taking the initiative to greet and assist customers at the teller area, to be certain their visit to our location is a positive experience. Answers correspondence from current and potential customers. Handles all daily routine questions and problems as they arise with customer satisfaction. Other Skills and Abilities, including computer skills: Bachelor's degree in a business related major, minimum of seven years of experience in the financial industry required or a high school diploma or GED and four years of progressive banking experience and/or training. Sales management experience is preferred. Must have a solid understanding of industry and retail banking knowledge. Retail Lending experience a plus. Computer skills required Strong math skills required

Additional information on each plan can be provided upon request. Salary Information This is an exempt position. Compensation will be based upon background and level of experience. The compensation range is $54,000
